Israel Kurdish Link

The New Yorker's Seymour Hersch does it again with an expose of Israeli-Kurdish links in Iraq. I suppose it is no surprise. We have seen reports of ethnic cleansing going on in the North for some time now. I guess the kurds have learnt well from their new allies as the geo-political face of the Middle East is rewritten. New alliances between those countries with Kurdish minorities are forming as Israeli-Kurdish links seemingly lead the way for either a de-facto oil rich Kurdish state, or a further destabilization of the region that would further the interests of Israel as the US faces unprecedented defeat and humiliation in Iraq.

Ehud Barak, the former Israeli Prime Minister, who supported the Bush Administration’s invasion of Iraq, took it upon himself at this point to privately warn Vice-President Dick Cheney that America had lost in Iraq; according to an American close to Barak, he said that Israel “had learned that there’s no way to win an occupation.” The only issue, Barak told Cheney, “was choosing the size of your humiliation.” Cheney did not respond to Barak’s assessment. (Cheney’s office declined to comment.)
Whatever is now going on between the Israelis and Kurds, it certainly seems as though another supporter of the war has now deserted the sinking ship.
